What is Affordability Passport?

After you submit an application to Volkswagen Financial Services, we may need some further information from you. Using Affordability Passport (powered by Experian), we can keep the application process simple, secure and hassle-free. 

It allows you to give consent to share your bank transaction data in one secure step, creating a single data passport that shows your income, spending, and credit commitments. This helps us make a fair and informed decision while meeting Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements.

Why it matters

We want to check your finance plan is affordable and right for you. By securely sharing data from up to two bank accounts, we can confirm your financial health without the need for paper statements. You can choose accounts that best reflect your income and spending, not accounts with limited funds.

What to expect

  • You’ll receive an email from Experian asking you to provide your bank account information securely using Affordability Passport.
  • Most major banks support this process. If your bank isn’t supported by Affordability Passport, we’ll request printed statements. Your retailer will contact you in these instances to share these with us in a secure manner. 
  • Providing access doesn’t guarantee approval, it simply helps us make an informed decision in a secure environment.
