VWFS driving workplace equality with accessible assistive technology tool

Did you know that roughly one billion people globally have a disability? These people often face barriers when visiting inaccessible websites that prevent them from taking an active part in life, which is a huge number of people potentially missing out on job opportunities.

Here at VWFS we’re committed to getting the right people in the right teams. We believe in creating diverse workforces, promoting equality and nurturing inclusive working environments.

So, we are continuing to champion online accessibility to career opportunities for people with disabilities or potential language barriers.

We’ve teamed up with boundary-pushing Recite Me software on our recruitment website and over the past eight months people interested in exploring a career with VWFS have been able engage with our careers website using translation tools and reading aids

What is Recite Me?

Recite Me enhances the user experience of websites for people with dyslexia, visual impairments, and literacy issues.

In the UK this equates to ensuring the 7 million people with literacy issues, 3.5 million people with dyslexia, and 8.6 million people registered disabled can have an enhanced user experience across the web.

What have we found so far?

Well, the results have been really quite pleasing!

Our data insights team found that nearly 500 pages on our careers website have been reviewed using the Recite Me toolbar over the past 8 months.

Translation tools and reading aids have proven popular in helping people overcome language barriers, or for those dealing with dyslexia issues, to gain company insight on VWFS.

Most of the access to the site using the Recite Me tool has been through desktop devices.

What do the experts say?

Ross Linnett, Recite Me CEO and founder: “Recite Me is a cloud-based web accessibility assistive toolbar solution that allows website visitors to customise a site in a way that works best for them. We are delighted that VWFS is opening up a world of career information and opportunity for those that have previously felt excluded.”

Mike Todd, CEO at Volkswagen Financial Services, added: “More than ever, it is vital that everyone can have equality in the workplace and has access to the information they need to make informed career choices and create opportunities for themselves.

“It’s a customised experience that we hope will increase the diversity of our applicants to enhance our skill sets and open up a wider talent pool that supports our values of equal opportunity in the workplace.”
