When will car showrooms in England reopen to the public?

If you’re one of the many thousands of people who’ve been eagerly awaiting the reopening of car showrooms, we can confirm that the wait is over.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently revealed that the next stage out of lockdown in England would involve non-essential retail outlets reopening their doors on 12th April.

This means that members of the public will be given the green light to enter car showrooms for the first time this year.

Our Volkswagen Group retailers have been closed throughout 2021 for walk-in customers and test drives, however, they will now revert back to reopening under the rules they operated under last summer.

This means customers will be allowed back into showrooms to find new and used cars they love, but will still need to wear a mask or face covering whilst visiting.

Can I still find a vehicle digitally?

Absolutely. We’ve been busy working alongside retailers to ensure that our digital journeys to finding finance options for new and used vehicles are as simple and convenient as possible.

Across the Volkswagen Group, our UK retailers remain digitally open for business and are committed to providing the same high levels of customer care.

Using the links to our Volkswagen Group stable of brands at the bottom of this article, you can pre-book a showroom appointment or a test drive for the model you’re interested in… right now!

We’re also really excited to announce that for Volkswagen and Audi customers we have a promotion on Service Plans to support the reopening of car showrooms.

For more information on these offers, visit Audi or Volkswagen Online Service Plan portals from 12th April.

How else can I find a vehicle online?

Customers can also make use of VWFS DRIVE, the service that provides access to a range of competitively priced stock vehicles online across the Volkswagen Group brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, thanks to a quick and easy online process.

All the cars are leased from available stock meaning no waiting around for factory lead times.

Buyers can choose their preferred choice of new car or van from the extensive range by going online and visiting drive.vwfs.co.uk. Once they’ve chosen their vehicle, they can obtain a personalised quote. The order is then placed and the owner can select a local franchised Volkswagen Group retailer from which to collect their new vehicle – all within 30 days.
